RALEIGH, NC — “I ran for elected office to put principles over politics, with a loathing for politicians that talk out of both sides of their mouths, who put special interests over the interests of their citizens.
The reason, the timing, the legislative process, and the contents of House Bill 142 are ‘Exhibit A’ for why many citizens have grown weary of politicians, and have lost faith in many of our elected officials.
I have tried to be humble, to consider any legitimate objections to the language of what is called House Bill 2. After a year since it passed, I have not been presented with a single legitimate argument that undermines the truth of the actual language. The only objections to House Bill 2 have been the perceptions painted by extreme pressure groups advancing their radical agenda, and their hypocritical, bullying corporate allies who are determined to impose their will upon the citizens of North Carolina.
I will continue to stand on principle over politics, and I will never sell out the rights of my constituents to the bullying tactics of the NCAA or any other organization who are intolerant of the rights of the citizens I have the privilege to serve. My vote of NO on House Bill 142 was a signal to the political class that subjugating the truth of a law, due to the untruths that have been perpetrated by the Left, is not a surrender I support.”
