About Chris Millis
Representative Chris Millis is a professional civil engineer who graduated as valedictorian from North Carolina State University after graduating from Topsail High School in the Pender County public school system. One of the youngest members of the General Assembly at age 33, Representative Millis serves Pender County and parts of Onslow County and succeeded longtime Representative Carolyn Justice. He is currently serving his third term in the North Carolina General Assembly.
Within North Carolina and surrounding states, Representative Millis has extensive experience as an engineer in field designing and permitting development projects for Paramounte Engineering Inc. of Wilmington, providing him first-hand insight of unnecessary business regulations.
Representative Millis serves on six committees this session; Appropriations; Commerce and Job Development; Environment; Homeland Security, Military, and Veterans Affairs; Regulatory Reform (Chair); and State Personnel.
In June of 2014, Representative Millis was chosen by the Lieutenant Governor to represent the state of North Carolina as a formal delegate at The Assembly of State Legislatures. The gathering of over 100 state legislators, representing 33 states, met to discuss the path forward for a future Convention of the States (as provided for in the United States Constitution). Read their resolution here.
Last session, Representative Millis was chosen by Speaker Tim Moore to serve as chairman of the powerful Regulatory Reform Committee. He also served on the Appropriations Committee, the Committee on Commerce and Job Development, the Environment Committee, the Committee on Homeland Security, Military, and Veterans Affairs, and the Public Utilities Committee.
His strong conservative principles and effectiveness representing his constituents in the General Assembly led to a decisive re-election victory, garnering Representative Millis nearly 67% of the vote in 2016.
Representative Millis and his wife Tonya are the proud parents of three children. They live in Hampstead.
